Review: 'MASSACRE CAVE, THE'
'Godlust'

-  Label: 'Red Death Records'
-  Genre: 'Thrash Metal' -  Release Date: '14th February 2020'

Our Rating:
Joe and Ben Cormack, the brothers who formed The Massacre Cave, continue their campaign to put the small Hebridean Isle of Eigg on the map as an unlikely centre of death metal with the help of Jodie Bremenason (bass) and Pete Colquhoun (drums).

Lyrics are practically indecipherable but it's a fair guess to say they are not singing/screaming about the natural beauty and tranquillity of life on a small island in the Scottish Highlands.

Tetramethrin is apparently a tirade against the Khmer Rouge. The words to We Own the Sun can be read below the You Tube video and can be summed up by the chant: "faith, hate, eternal". The video itself depicts a strange pagan ritual featuring images of blood, death and a burning tree.

From the towering riffs of the opening track (From the Mountains) to the epic nine minute title song, this Valentine's Day massacre goes for the jugular and makes a direct hit.

It confirms The Massacre Cave as the greatest metal band in the Small Isles.
