Review: 'Aerial Salad'
'Dirt Mall'

-  Label: 'bandcamp'
-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: '27.3.20.'

Our Rating:
Aerial Salad are a young punk band from Manchester who are here to assault our ears in the best possible ways. This album is also released as a way of showing anyone who saw them fall to pieces at FEST in Gainsville in 2016 that they really aren't the worst band ever.

The opener Dirt Mall has some good dirty guitars and shouty vocals that remind me a lot of The Loyalties that and lyrics in these times about not wanting to die and to just get high instead seem to be right on the money for our times.

Fever Dream isn't about being all virused up and sweating like Boris, but it is about trying to sound like a punkier harder Psychedelic Furs while dreaming of getting back with an ex who thinks that the romance is dead no matter how much you beg and plead like a modern day Richard Butler.

Lazy slows things down to an almost slacker pace as they struggle to get off the sofa and do anything at all, well obviously the guitarist and drummer have managed to put in a shift even if the singer is less than motivated, but with us all at home at the moment being Lazy is the biggest craze for 2020 so this could easily be a summer anthem this year.

Romance is one of the least romantic sounding songs with that title as shouty hectoring vocals rarely seal the deal so to speak as the singer practically throws you up against a wall and shouts the question do you want Romance? at you while you quiver and try to let him down without getting pummeled.

State O'Yer is his reaction to that rejection a speedy punk anthem telling you just what a state you look like as Jamie obviously looks better than you do.

Stressed is good and shouty with a nice breakdown quiet part about doing cannabis and there anger at the austerity we have all been living through yes they do believe cannabis is the answer to our stress problems, now should I inhale while listening to it or not.

Such A Pity This opens like a less echo laden P.I.L. on that bands first couple of album before the guitars really come in and then it sounds more like U.K. Subs but managing to make me think of both those bands in one song is quite a trick and this is great song of regret all bruised and bashed about.

Temp is angry bitter and twisted rampage against having all your dreams crushed and having no one trying to help you make your dreams come true but being stuck inside an unreal vortex, like most of us do at some time or other.

The album closes with Virtue a speed addled ram raid of a plea to be allowed to stay where he is no matter what has happened, but he could well be on the bricks again due to an um lack of virtue.

This is a really good fun angry punk album and yes you can have fun while being angry find out more at https://aerialsalad.co.uk????https://aerialsalad.bandcamp.com/
