Our Rating:
Moll & Zeiss is the new album by two childhood friends and Irish musicians David Long and Shane O'Neill. I have to admit to being less than impressed by both of there bands back in the 80's/90's, although David Longs band Into Paradise were far less annoying that the other Into band Into A Circle they weren't to my taste back then. Shane O'Neill was in Blue In Heaven and I saw him in that bands second version as The Blue Angels who I just about remember as a decent support act.

The album opens with Earth Moves that is a rather gently seductive song to make the Earth Move that has a cool fey almost anorak sound as they whisper in your ear. In Out has a slow darkly goth intro as if they are re-animating Bela Lugosi with some Shadow Play and delicate swirls of guitar before the narcotized vocals mumble in.

Far From Home is more straight-ahead gentle postcard style indie for someone who has strayed Far from Home. Morning Song would be a gentle caress to slowly wake you up with some proggy guitar squiggles and rather genteel vocals.

Moll & Zeiss the title track is rather slight with a piano part that I'd like to have been a bit higher in the mix. Finnegan is much more tonal and abstract almost background music.

Albert The Painter is the song on the album you really need to hear, no it's not a hit, but a very cool song about a wandering artist in search of inspiration and a safe place to exist as a refugee on the road to salvation and has a cool video to go with it. For You is a simple and rather engaging love song that's hopefully as pretty as you are.

Wandering is soundscape like and would work as the soundtrack to someone Wandering through a bleak landscape. Dreams Come is a cool power pop love song that is the most commercial sounding song on the album as he hopes you call again.

The album closes with Moll & Zeiss (Country Mix) that for me is slightly less background music than the first mix of the song.
