Our Rating:
Riviera is the third of Cocteau Twins legend Robin Guthrie's four new releases following on from Mockingbird Love and Pearl Diving and coming before Springtime that's being released for Robin Guthrie's 60th Birthday, as I am running an ep behind with my reviews Happy 60th To Robin!

This series of 3 ep's and an album is a wonderful way to celebrate that milestone. Recorded at his home studio in Brittany. This EP is every bit as lush and lovely as you could wish for all the tunes on Riviera were written on Southern shores in the Northern hemisphere.

The EP opens with Starfish Prime that's perfect to sit in a rowing boat staring into some clear shallow water at the Starfish sitting on the sand below it ebbs and flows with the tide slowly lifting the Starfish from off the beach in a Prime movement just above the sand you gaze at the sun splashed dappled water and feel totally at peace very calm and beatific.

815 as the sun slowly goes down the Piano gently caresses your soul with mystical strings in a near somnambulant embrace with those that have left us now behind.

Revue lifts us up almost floating in the clouds with some shimmering trees to help us forget all the pain and the loss and remember what made those we have lost so special in the first place. This is a very calming musical evocation.

The Empress needs to be swathed in beautiful strings with a harp being gently plucked as she reclines and waits to be worshipped gently washed and caressed through silken chemises of gentle loveliness.
