Our Rating:
Echo Neuklang is a compilation exploring the influence of Krautrock on newer artists and has been put together by Andreas Dorau, Daniel Jahn and Christoph Dallach.

This compilation opens with Der Weg Nach Innen (Aussen) By Stefan Thelen & Olek Gelba that's an ambient drum and bass piece that will blend nicely into the background of a chill out room.

Platin Tundra by Burnt Friedman seems to sample Grace Jones in a minimalistic style as the drums start to get more interesting than the simple funky motif it's built around.

Weite Welt by Haindling has a sinuous bassline with a repeating piano figure that builds as the drums come and go in the mix, this has a slight funky dancefloor edge to it before the brass adds cool textures.

Lichterloh by Conny Frischauf tells us in stentorian tones It's too difficult as the words repeat and loop into babbling sounds the bass gently comes in with the sounds of babbling water to help chill you out, in time for Connie to start singing in German against the bass that has become sinuously fluid.

Hydrator by Moebius & Renziehausen has a funky bassline with minimal synth adornment, this is laid back at low volume, but at high volume will wobble your brain before the wind chimes come in, before it gets properly stoned totally out of its head.

Deutscher Wald by Deutscher Wertarbeit sounds like it was influenced by Yello and Kraftwerk equally with the calming synths working around an ever-repeating bass loop.

Winter by Kriedler is full of long slow tones of icy synths in synaptic sequences disrupted by machine gun fire, as the battle escalates bullets fly all around the speakers, temple bells and bass attempt to calm things down among the carnage, this is probably best not played in the wrong clubs in the USA as the reaction might be frightening.

Eskapade by Workshop is drum and bass rhythms with a deep synth undertow with the odd organ interlude before the vocals start counting down and up.

Love Songs Gegen Die Zeit by Love Songs has deadpan vocals over the clanging percussion with sylphlike sexy synths seducing you.
Took by To Rococo Rot is pleasant laid back slow dance techno with some cool guitar.

Cosmo Annie by Harte 10 is flute and glockenspiel chill out bliss for about 5 in the morning as it starts to build alongside the whistling before the vocals come into tell us all about Cosmo Annie with the vocals partly going through a vocoder this sounds like 5 or 6 tunes blended into one.

Schlafatemwagen by Schlammpeitziger has simple almost Casio tone synth waves with typewriter percussion with a general sense of otherness.

The compilation closes with Strahlende Zukunft by Rheingold who sound nowhere near as dodgy as the Rheingold club in London always was, this has Cluster like synths over the pulsing beat and gauzy vocals as this extends out over 9 glorious minutes.
