This single was released on what should have been the first date of The Bellrays current US tour opening for Social Distortion, but sadly that tour had to be cancelled when Mike Ness from Social Distortion was diagnosed with Tonsil cancer shortly before the tour was due to start, here's hoping he can make a full recovery.
As always The Bellrays are Lisa Kekaula and Bob Vennum who are currently joined by Ron Miller and Mark Cisneros who were invited by I-94 Recordings to be the 8th band in the labels Detroit Covers series, the single is available in 12 different coloured vinyl combinations. They chose to take on The Temptations classic early punk single Ball Of Confusion, a song that for me will always take me back to sitting in a tent on top of the white cliffs of Deal in about 1977 or 78 listening to a mix tape, one of the Scottish kids who were at the same camp as I was had made, along with Sweet's Ballroom Blitz and Sham 69's Sunday Morning Nightmare was Ball Of Confusion and I've loved the song ever since.
The Bellrays create a hard rocking version, faster than the original, but the central message is sadly still relevant, as Lisa's vocals are full of soul mixed with bitter anger of the helpless nature of the fight to bring about real social change, set against the coruscating guitars, as the lyrics are updated to mention the opioid Crisis, Americas doomed love affair with guns, the huge homeless crisis on a belter of a version of Ball Of Confusion.

The b-side of this beautifully packaged 7" single is I Fall Down a good chugging blues rocker for the broken hearted who lost a major love among the madness of the last few years, that comes complete with a brilliant squiggly guitar freakout.
