Review: 'Candy Snatchers,The'
'Shame Shivers/ Must Be The Cocaine'

-  Label: 'I-94 Recordings'
-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: '6.9.22.'-  Catalogue No: 'I-94-016'

Our Rating:
This 7" single is the first new music by The Candy Snatchers in over 10 years, it came out late last year, it also marks the band's first release since original member Matthew Odietus passed away. This single is dedicated to his memory as well as to the memory of Darbe Warner and Barry Johnson.

As with all of the I-94 Recordings single series this features a Detroit cover version in this case Must Be The Cocaine by Trash Brats, the single has great cartoon artwork that puts them in the same sort of scene as Too Much Joy. Available in 16 different colors including the black tar version I was sent. Hans Molnar has been dragooned in as Matthew's replacement where he joins original Candy Snatchers Doug Goose Duncan, Sergio Sgt. Stash Ponce and Larry May.

Shame Shivers sounds a bit like Too Much Joy crossed with Sloppy Seconds or Rocket from The Crypt this tune simply flies by in a huge adrenaline rush.

Must Be The Cocaine the Trash Brats cover sounds like they have all hoovered up a couple of grams to get in the right mood, for the gang style terrace chant singalong chorus, before Hans Molnar's super speedy freakout guitar solo before they all get carted off to rehab.
