Review: 'Tizane'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '23.6.23.'

Our Rating:
Forever Is Nothing is the second album by Tizane with Pat Collier in the producer/engineer's chair. Tizane also got to work with Mud legend Rob Davis this time, who is better known by the younger generation as the songwriter behind Kylie Minogue's Can't Get You Outta My Head co-writing Every Minute one of the catchiest songs on the album with him.

The album opens with the earlier single Off The Edge that I've heard enough times now for it to really have embedded in my head how catchy it is, this song will get stuck in your head, as Tizane asks why her boyfriend is two timing her, she can smell her perfume on him, she knows who the other woman is and just wants to know what it would take to make you monogamous, this has a sophisticated indie pop edge.

Don't Tell Me The End is a plea to not be let down again, to not find out what's going to happen in the end, set against a carefully paced riff with stop start rocking punctuation to the impending heartbreak.

When the Ravens Leave you'll be let out of your tower, all the isolation will come to an end, this has a dreamy edge as it builds into sounding a bit like Lacuna Coil but with more subtlety.

I'm Not Her slowly builds through the pain, at finding out her boyfriend is still in love with someone else, as she explores how this makes her feel, the pain and the contradictions of loves web, the strings swell as the guitars get crunchier, we can only hope he hears this song, mends his ways to bring Tizane the happiness she seeks.

Small World works around a cute riff as Tizane explains how she can never stop talking, yet can't remember what she needs to say, with lush backing vocals helping with the questioning nature of this song.

Every Minute was co-written with Rob Davis it's super catchy pop rock love song for your ideal lover, who you are worried will leave you at a moments notice, this is the sort of song that should get hordes of teenage girls singing along with it.

Who's Gonna Hurt Me Now is an anthem for survivors of all sorts of emotional distress, finding ways to carry on and become stronger, this becomes a truly monumental power metal ballad that needs a Jennifer Rush style video to go with it.

Running is another catchy indie rocker, with cool bass and riff, as she runs all over the place making sure she has all the evidence to confront him with, so he confesses what he's done.

Why Not Me? Is a conversation with someone sitting next to her, whose name she doesn't know, as they drive away in a car, she wants to know why he doesn't want her, as her insecurity that he's not all over her, but he's behaving like a gent, who may prefer other gents, or already have a girl somewhere else, the more she asks and pleads with him, the more reasons pop up unsaid, why won't he give in and be hers, why, why not her, buy the album and find out what a huge mistake he's making.

The album closes with Forever Is Nothing a slow acoustically strummed plea for love, a real relationship, to not be abandoned or left alone, saying goodbye to all her insecurity as slowly the rest of the band join in as the long wait for happiness is made clear.
