Review: 'RISING TIMES'
'ALL THE WAY'

-  Label: 'www.risingtimes.co.uk'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '8th November 2003'

Our Rating:
Hailing from north of the border and supplying us with some attractive drinks coasters in their promo package (not that we receive bribes, obviously), RISING TIMES are a snotty young tribe of upstarts on the trail of wanton guitar destruction.

And, with "All The Way" they don't fall all that short of their goal. For starters, it's got a great line in compressed, rhino fart basslines, complemented by vicious guitars and steamhammer, hi-hat heavy percussion. The way they rip into the chorus is also wilfully impressive, as is the way they maintain the drawling, Stooges-meets-Mary Chain drive of the tune. Sure, it's nothing we haven't previously heard a kazillion times, but it's executed with enough panache and intent to help it rise above the unsigned morass.

Bizarrely, Rising Times recently headlined the Quingdao International Festival in China in front of 27,000 baying fans, but on the evidence of "All The Way" one can only bow to our Chinese brothers' good taste. It looks as though Rising Times may be capable of taking the long road (or maybe the Great Wall) and walking it for the duration.
