Oasis V Blur is the latest topical single from Indie legends super group Swansea Sound who for the uninitiated are made up of Amelia Fletcher, Ian Button, Huw Williams, Bob Collins and Rob Pursey plus special guest Welsh vocalist Catrin James, who between them have been in about 100 different bands from Heavenly to Death In Vegas, The Pooh Sticks to The Night Mail.
Unconfirmed rumours have it that Swansea Sound have offered the DJ's at the upcoming Oasis shows all of the bands Spotify royalties, if they will play this single about 10 minutes before the happy brothers hit the stage. The single itself is a great chugging, scuffling indie rocker, asking you to choose who you would prefer, not sure if it's in terms of listening to them or hanging out with them, for me It would be Blur on all fronts, but the point they make that both bands essentially make music for blokes shines through. That and it's four Blokes from oop North versus 5 Blokes from Dahn Sarf.
Pacio'r Fan is a Welsh language version of the bands classic Pack The Van that was on the twentieth century album. Sung in crystalline Welsh by Catrin James from The Loves, this is glistening jangle pop for all of us who are too cool to want to go and see Oasis in a stadium.
