Ed Dupas was born in Houston, Texas, currently lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan but was conceived in California.
Living in the ‘Golden State, albeit in utero, is sufficient for him to want to pay homage to the late ’60s Laurel Canyon scene.
The album was prompted by the passing of his father in July 2019 and the memories this sad event aroused. ”California became a stand-in for something I couldn’t quite name.”, Dupas says.
Barbed Wire Cross is named after a crucifix above the Airbnb he rented in Los Angeles for nine months in order to give birth to the eleven songs.

The raw tunes were later fleshed out and have grown into a melodic, easy-going radio-friendly collection.
Ready to be Found is about rediscovering his musical voice and the record as whole feels like a re-centring process.
