Shopping is the new single by Portland Oregon's Rayon, whose members battled with the Rayon static together. Rayon are Eric Sabatino, Eric Rubalcava, Riley McLaughlin and Anna Sabatino the single was recorded and engineered by Eric Sabatino and Larry Crane.
The a-side Shopping opens with Tractor style post-punk guitars slowly building around crisp drumming, before the deadpan vocals come in to tell us how much they want to go Shopping, somewhere they can find everything, they're addicted to consumerism, the music gains in intensity, while they dream of perusing the aisles and malls once more.
The B-side Running has a riff that might be hard to keep up with, if you're not fit enough, the hazy vocals are less indebted to Gang Of Four than the music, they discuss the fire in your soul that drives you to go Running, rather than the need to feed addictions that turn others into runners of a different sort. Things slow down as they run out of puff and are almost into a warm down phase of hazy guitars and the odd spectral flourish.
