Our Rating:
Desperate dreams Destroyed is the debut EP by Leeds based Boggis Fringe who formed out of the ashes of FatherFigures after that bands key member Graeme died far too young. Boggis Fringe are Doug, Chris and Paul who recorded the Ep at Hohm Studio in Bradford with Alex Greenwood engineering the EP, with overdubs by Stan Howells.

The Ep opens with Handbag a careening skewed post-indie-fraggle-rocker with urgent and desperate questions of what was in her handbag, like they want to search through Maggies handbag after she's clumped Heseltine with it again and he's out for the count, the fraught sense of danger and list of various items and a name check for Steven Cooper, who I was thinking was about to chuck me over his shoulder again, but it isn't the Judo champ, but the notoriously hairy balled childhood acquaintance of Boggis Fringes.

Authorities are certainly concerned about being mentioned in songs like this, it won't do, how will they keep up appearances with cheeky scamps claiming they are down in the basement up to no good again, speeding almost faster than this tune flies past.

Rave Scene is all amped up, like you swallowed all the e's, yet still never feel at home in the Rave Scene, guess you were always an Grebo kid or punk and alternative kid, so they avoid the day-glo smiley faces and carry on being rather fine miserabilists.

The EP closes with I Spoke Out Of Turn and got hit by his teacher with a ruler, sounds like he met my Mum teaching Hebrew classes, whatever you do don't speak out of turn, or you'll get a clump, obviously this is about the bad old days when teachers dishing out the violence was an every day occurrence, he gets picked up and shaken, at least he didn't get his scalp scratched or made to keep a piece of Orange peel on a line on the chalk board, I hope by now he's learnt his lesson, I know I never did. Kids today don't know they are born etc etc. whatever you do join the Boggis Fringe now.
