Review: 'Whole'
'Air Vent (Way In)'

-  Label: 'Black Jack Illuminist Records'
-  Genre: 'Industrial' -  Release Date: '20.2.26.'

Our Rating:
Air Vent (Way In) is the latest single by Berlin based darkwave synth duo Whole who are the super busy musical polymath Leonard Alexander Donat and Thomas Schernikau the latter of whom mixed and mastered the ep.

Air Vent (Way In) has a hardcore, techno dance pounding beat, motorik synths allowing Alex to sing about why that Air Vent is crucial to making sure the machines work, If the Air Vent is your only way in you know things are getting dangerous, this is dark hued and looking for a way out that may not exist.

New Life takes the Depeche Mode classic and mixes dark despairing synths with glacial sounds over the top, vocals pleading to be shown the way to that New Life in ways that are far less poppy than the original, when the vocal breakdown comes, it shows what a catchy song about wanting to escape from Essex this song is. This version is dancefloor ready at your local darkwave alternative club.

I Am Your Shadow (Alternate) has glitchy percussive noises over long slow glacial synths, are they ready to wipe there memories, leaving only you're Shadow behind, the drum and bass gets more upfront while the lyrics make clear how far they are from The Lurkers classic Shadow, this is far more tense and strained.
