Our Rating:
HALFSET are a duo who play electronica. Actually, I'm never quite sue what that means: in this case it seems to entail the use of synths, guitars, banjos, melodica and lots more besides..?

Anyway, this is a pleasant enough CD without ever exploding into anything more. The opener, "Come on Citroen", sounds exactly like "Power, Corruption and Lies" era New Order, but with banjos (and no vocals) - which means its OK in my book. Elsewhere there are lots of softly played guitars over major chord progressions and standard rhythmic backgrounds.

Only "Riversong" is deemed worthy of a vocal part, and again its pleasant enough, if a bit one dimensional.. In fact, the whole Cd is a bit like that, there are plenty of ideas in here, but nothing that really leaps out at you. Easy late night listening, I'd say.

In fact, the music that Halfset create would make good soundtrack fare. I can even visualise some of the scenes as I'm listening. So make a great film fellas, and you could be on to something..
