Sitting on the cliffs beside a large Ocean, let’s say the Atlantic, there's a peaceful sense of wonder and calm that soothes me. Hour after hour, year after year, those big waves roll in and shimmer on the rocks with a deep whoosh and roar. Never changing, never failing. The inner pulse tugs them in, and lets them surge back out. It never stops My daily life is eased, my soul is renewed.

Some of it comes from Canada. Some from Australia and New Zealand. South Africa does some too. England never quite makes the grade, forever getting the Leeds-Liverpool Canal in on the act, when Big Rollers are all that count. It should be the big sound, the tantalising organ part, the heartchoked voice and Great Drumming. Big warm, and numbing.
DAN POLITANO is The Business. I've no idea what he's singing about, or why. Frankly I don't care. The adrenalin flows, the memory synapses close down, reason disappears and the Critical Faculty takes a power nap.
