Review: 'AEROPLANES, THE'
'DON'T STOP ME'

-  Label: 'WHITE NOISE RECORDS'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'October 2005'

Our Rating:
THE AEROPLANES are a Liverpudlian four piece consisting of singer and lead guitarist Chris Kearney, Paul Crowe (vocals/ guitar), Stuart Palethorpe (bass) and Ian MacMillan on drums. Their debut single 'Don't Stop Me' has a distinctive Mersey-beat feel from Kearney's vocals to the up-beat; catchy guitar chorus and you will find yourself singing and dancing along to this happy, simple song.

'Somedays' is the second track on the EP and has a mellower feel to it, and reminds me strongly of the kind of songs that mid-nineties sensation Cast would have a released. This is a good thing mind you, and the melancholic vocals and subject (in the minor key no less) are not so sad or depressing as to have you not leaving bed in the morning but rather help to show the group's sensitive side.

The final track, 'Black Hole' is a beautiful song with some slightly
syncopated drumming which will leave you swaying along to the tune. Again it is not as poppy as the opening track but still has a catchy refrain and memorable harmonies will instantly draw you to this song.

The 'Don't Stop Me' EP is nothing groudbreaking, but is still a funky, cheerful debut containing simple, three minute pop songs which will stay in your head all day, and leave a smile on your face. Lovely!
