So whatcha got? Skinny guitars, tremulous basslines, swirly synth bits, busy drums and mercurial backing vocals you say? Excitable vocals along the lines of David Byrne and Shawn Christensen you say? Sounds good. These guys have gotta be from New York City, right?
Well, yeah, actually, though by way of Philadelphia. They are CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH. They consist of Alec Ounsworth (guitar/ vocals), Sean Greenhalgh (drums), Tyler Sargent (bass), Lee Sargent (guitar/ keyboards) and Robbie Quertin (guitar/ keyboards). They are also clearly in touch with the cool and angular noises that so often resonate from the US Eastern seaboard, but crucially bring something joyful and exciting of their own to the party. "Is This Love?" (the first song to feature the word "zarathustra" since The Fall's "Free Range" surely) comes from their debut album and suggests you should start forming a discerning, but perhaps less than orderly queue right now.

So CLAP YOUR HANDS AND SAY YEAH? Sure thing. "Is This Love?" Quite possibly. At the very least, it's the start of a lengthy flirting campaign.
