THE JAMES WARNER PROHECIES are a band who are brilliant at dishing out funky, soulful tunes that make you wish to go travelling down the open highway and never look back.
Their self-titled album contains 12 tracks of nourishing sonic goodness, guaranteed to get your toes tapping along to the music, with off- tempo drumbeats and absolutely wonderful diva-esque singing from Lucy Milford.
Opening track 'Lie In' is a light-hearted, jazzy song which is
a far cry from the other more serious offerings on the album. Slow, melancholy folk songs like 'Hazel' and 'Life In General' also feature strongly: tunes complete with gentle acoustic guitar playing, flute harmonies and passionate singing from Joe Brown and Milford. Throw in the occasional epic sing-along rock ballad such as 'Taken' and you've got a credible, soulful and melodic, dad-rock release.
