Review: 'GOLDIE LOOKIN' CHAIN'
'R'N'B'

-  Label: 'ATLANTIC'
-  Genre: 'Hip-Hop' -  Release Date: '21st November 2005'

Our Rating:
The temptation to compare Goldie Lookin Chain with The Barren Knights, though strong, should be resisted. In fact, GLC’s humorous, detail-obsessed commentary on youth culture has more in common with Half Man Half Biscuit (who, coincidentally, are about 20 miles off being Welsh.).

I’m happy to report that’s its business as usual for the Chain, as they turn their heavy lidded eyes towards the syrupy monster that is ‘R n B’ for what is essentially a parody, ‘R n B’’s production is seductively pleasurable – all breezy, dreamy and Philly. The lyrics are GLC’s usual blend of chav love, choice obscenity and pop culture, whilst the rapping is as endearingly amateurish as ever. Both ‘safe’ and ‘for real’ then, as I believe the kids might say.
