With the opening guitar riff lifted directly from The Jam’s “Eton Rifles” and the vocal tone and synths nabbed from the veritable Killers, one can’t fail to win win win. But still, can you forgive such an outright shameless lack of originality?
This BOY KILL BOY track is good and solid, but completely uninspired. Saying that, it builds well, and is emotional and dramatic enough for people to sit up and take notice. It’s a reliable blend of guitar driven electro-pop, synths, and haircuts (yes, they’re from East London and they have the Mops
to match), which fits in nicely with the current trend.
But we’ve heard it all before, and other than it being electro-poppy, and that it sounds similar to ‘all the right bands’, there’s not much else to say. Bah.
