Our Rating:
Make no bones about it, this is seriously sexy stuff. The ARCHIE BRONSON OUTFIT smack us with some psychedelic, bluesy, folk-inspired rock - dark, atmospheric and brutal. The simplicity of their music is key to the stripped down, authentic noise that they conjure – conjure being an appropriate word for this music, as it seems dark enough for Voodoo.

“Dart for my Sweetheart” is a climatic, tense number based around a heavy blues riff, with ragged, tortured vocals tearing over the tight-as-shit instruments, and an anthemic chorus belting out across the general roll of the tune. In contrast, the slow-paced “In the Shadow of Love” teems with sexual frustration, made all the more sinister with it’s violent undertones. Leila Moss’s (Beth Orton-esque) backing vocals really add to the mysterious feel of this track. It literally drags itself along, seductive, drunken, and weary - but clearly ready to bite if provoked.

The final track “Fire Horse” sounds as though it was recorded on a vintage reel-to-reel in a garage (I kind of hope it was). Belting out thrashing drums, insane guitars, and indecipherable screaming – the repetitive beats are hypnotic, and the overall effect is intoxicating.

Theirs is the sound of unrequited love, erotically charged heavy blues, and general frenetic desperation. To sum up, it’s fucking ace. Go out and buy this EP if you know what's good for you.
