Review: 'PILOTS OF THE SIXTH'
'ARBURY DEMONSTRATIONS'

-  Label: 'R*E*P*E*A*T'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '2006'-  Catalogue No: 'BB006'

Our Rating:
PILOTS OF THE SIXTH started making music for one simple reason. They were "sick of hearing shit". Hallelujah to that but its one thing to diss the songs they play on the radio and quite another to actually start making noises that are worthy of our attention let alone our (can't get no) satisfaction.

So to the evidence: a 3 song demo CD named after the location of its recording. Whilst this 3 track demo is slightly ropey in the production department (the drums seem to have come off worst) and the playing a little off-kilter (like the early recordings of Half Man Half Biscuit) there is sufficient juice in the band's engine to suggest that they may be onto a good thing.

'No One Cares' and 'Piccadilly' surf the same musical waves as current "indie" hipsters and hit-makers - Razorlight in particular spring to mind - but it’s the last track 'Keep On Talking' with its old school rock 'n' roll 'Johnny Cash meets the White Stripes' swagger that really lights up this packet of three.
