Review: 'ZOX'
'CAN'T LOOK DOWN'

-  Label: 'www.sideonedummy.com/ www.zoxband.com'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '18th September 2006'-  Catalogue No: 'SD1309-2'

Our Rating:
This impressive Rhode Island four piece have recently been whipping up a storm at the Reading and Leeds Carling festivals supporting label mates Bedouin Soundclash.

Their sound is a mix of hard arsed rock/folk/country with small chunks of punk and slithers of pop twists. This single, featuring a good cover of The Pixies “Where is My Mind”, is their statement of intent and has a fine sense of poise with wild violin staccato slashings.

Recorded by Mitch Easter (REM, Wilco, and Pavement) you can certainly hear all of these groups’ essences in lesser or more degrees. ZOX are currently submerged in the battlefield that is the Vans Warp Tour in the US.
