Review: 'TIDES, THE'
'YOU'LL NEVER CHANGE'

-  Label: 'www.pronoia-records.com / www.thetides.co.uk'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '28th August 2006'

Our Rating:
“You’ll Never Change” is something that The Tides need to do…and that’s change. The transcendent guitar chord sequence has been done to death and a whole lot better by a storm of others.

These nice lads from Manchester need a break (and they seem to be getting them supporting the wonderful The Fall and the rising Kasabian), though hopefully Liam Pennington’s androgynous voice (though in no way does it sound like Thom Yorke or Anthony of The Johnson’s fame) won’t break either.

Maybe they could go camping on the Pennines for a week and loose sight of their selves completely, destroying everything they think they are or are being told they are (including myself) and then go and record.

It takes time and originality to create those wall breaking waves while not becoming just another drippy retread in a flooded field.
