Review: 'NOONAKAI'
'ALL MY JOURNEYS'

-  Label: 'Red Weather Records'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: '8'-  Catalogue No: 'REDCDS0001'

Our Rating:
How do CDs this good get left to one side? Maybe it's the fate of outsider music in general. Making a huge noise with gentle music and no big company muscle isn't an option.

But I do like this and I would encourage some effort to find it. Irfan Shah, Karen Pirie and Joe Crofton are the principle collaborators. Richard Cross, Marv and Max Warren are also credited.

"All My Journeys" is a dreamy song with a bold primary-colours melody line. Karen sings it with a cool detachment that partly disguises a more lascivious yearning. Drums and electronica cushion it with a perfect delicacy. "Escape To" has the same emotional drift, with the gentlest funk underlay you could imagine. No vocal track this time, but the chilled jazz line in the synth part is compelling.

Taken together, the two tracks offer a little over ten minutes of high quality chill-out music.
