Review: 'Koopa'
'London, Metro Club, 28th November 2006'

-  Genre: 'Pop'

Our Rating:
I had heard of Koopa sometime ago, seeing various reviews and hearing the name mentioned, so when I was invited along to their launch party I was quite looking forward to seeing them.

I turned up to the event loooking forward to free drinks, goody bags and celebs. Unfortunately when I went to the bar I was shouted at as I tried to walk away without paying. No free drinks! There were also no celebrities. At this point I regretted going on about the event to my friends, I'd be made to suffer for my boasting!

When Koopa came on stage they weren't bad. They had a lot of energy, and sounded pretty good. I was really starting to get into it, until they started to chat between songs. There were lots of sexual inuendos, and many gay references too. The banter that started funny soon became tedious, and in some parts offensive. It's a shame to say, but it let the gig down. The band are very good at what they do, great entertainers and tight as a group. They had a good crowd, who seemed to be hardcore fans. They ended the set with a Christmas song which saw the audience jumping up on stage with them. This was a good end to the gig, and made me rethink some of my previous thoughts.

All in all Koopa are a good band, and perform well live. It's just a shame about the rest.
