Manchester-based POLYTECHNIC have given birth to a beautiful bouncing baby single, "Cold Hearted business", which sounds like (very specifically it seems) the glorious lovechild of Belle & Sebastian's "The Boy With the Arab Strap" and The Wombats "Moving To New York". The end result? A chirpy, bundle of joy that has arrived blinking into the world, to bring happiness and excitement to all who hear it.
Hand claps and hooky riffs galore, "Cold Hearted Business" is more uplifting than, erm, a fork lift truck? Anyhow, it's your typical anti-establishment musical rant, but the bitterness of the lyrics just melt into the jolliness of the music. All they need are some bluebirds and flutes and they'll be set. Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em.
