Review: 'POLYTECHNIC'
'WON'T YOU COME AROUND?'

-  Label: 'SHATTERPROOF RECORDS'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '11th June 2007'-  Catalogue No: 'SHPR7004A'

Our Rating:
If you succumbed to the pop-tones of last summer’s indie darlings The Kooks then Manchester based collective POLYTECHNIC are sure to float your boat, in a manner of speaking.

And if sun-drenched harmonies and jangling guitars are your musical weapons of choice then look no further than Won’t You Come Around, the fifth single taken from their debut album Down Til Dawn.

However, don’t be surprised if you find that the track isn’t exactly scoring high in originality despite the fact that singer Dylan Giles has a cut-glass voice that manages to be both singular and irritating in equal measures.

Still, if you’re looking for a sure thing to be played to death and undoubtedly remain a pop-indie staple for 2007 then look no further than Polytechnic. They may be lacking a bit of imagination, but there’s still enough of interest to be mined from this effort.
