Review: 'ARTISAN'
'Thornley, Harry's Bar, 5th September 2007'

-  Genre: 'Rock'

Our Rating:
The renowned ‘Harry’s Bar’ was the scene for young reverent band ARTISAN, who have stormed quickly through the local music scene and have been making quite a name for themselves. The band crammed into a small corner of the very lively and jovial pub, and was greeted with momentous applause by an eager and expectant audience, whom filled the pub to bursting point.

To begin with, Artisan exploded with a fantastic rendition of Free’s “Fire and Water” which highlighted singer Paul Smith’s fantastic singing capabilities that echoed that of Free frontman, Paul Rogers. The band carried on through the night with an impressive array of classic rock covers including Queen’s “Tie Your Mother Down”, Thin Lizzy’s “Dancing In The Moonlight” and even a rocked-up rendition of recent chart-topper Gnarls Barkley’s song “Crazy”.

Artisan also performed their own songs – one of which, named “Blind Man”, slotted in perfectly with the covers and demonstrated exactly what Artisan are capable of – fantastic, ballsy rock music that haunts back to previous eras, but is updated for a new generation. Watching the four-piece perform certainly shows that the band's enormous hype is easily lived up to, and it’s clear to see that every member of the band is very, very talented – making them all the more fun to watch.

After performing several encores that were screamed and begged for by the ecstatic audience, the band left the stage. Artisan clearly left a big impression on the revellers of Harry’s Bar and will continue from here to make extraordinary and original music.
