Review: 'CORR, ANDREA'
'CHAMPAGNE FROM A STRAW'

-  Genre: 'Pop'

Our Rating:
‘Champagne From A Straw’, taken from Andrea Corr’s debut solo album ‘Ten Feet High’, is a lively and well-crafted creation, which is refreshingly different to that of the dramatic, epic sounds of The Corrs. The song feels perfect to listen to on a lazy weekend – energetic, peaceful, fun and contains many different, unpredictable instruments including trumpets, bongos and even maracas. Lyrically, Andrea’s beautiful voice belittles the celebrity lifestyle: “I’ve got my all over-tan and tummy-tuck/Big house in the country with expensive bags for my scary little dog...”

Whilst creating this song and ‘Ten Feet High’ (produced by Nellee Hooper, Bono and Gavin Friday), Andrea seems to be thinking more about having fun and enjoying her music, perhaps due to a greater sense of musical freedom, rather than emulating the immense success and 30 million albums enjoyed by The Corrs. With regards to the album, Andrea says “With this record, it isn’t necessarily about showing the world the real me...it’s nothing that contrived. No, this is just an album where I’ve had fun and adventure; I’m thrilled with the results. Even if nothing happens with it, I’ll go to my grave happy I’ve done it.

Andrea Corr is creating catchy, pretty music which is guaranteed to have you singing and humming straight after the first listen. Her album ‘Ten Feet High’ is now on general sale with Atlantic Records.
