Husky, vulnerable and whispery are three words that best describe the soulful, folky vocals of Alice McLaughlin, the talent that intimately captivates the listener who turns on and tunes in to ALICE & THE MAJESTY. ‘
I could love you’, the second release from Alice’s evoking album ‘Sunday Best’ is worth listening to. It seems this lady has done her homework and, using her personal empiricism, impressive musical contacts such as Beth Orton and Ted Barnes and her wide ranging technical talent, Alice has produced folk pop that sounds wonderfully distinctive; hard to do in a world where female guitar singers have a habit of droning on in a less than authentic folk-like manner.

With an easy listening appeal and a personal, heartfelt story, I have big hopes for this pretty blonde bohemian and if her previous guitar travelling around the world is anything to go by, I think she’ll be here for a long while. ‘I could love you’ is contemporary folk-pop at its best and it seems guaranteed we could love her too.
