Review: 'Eutopia'
'Valentine'

-  Album: 'Life' -  Label: 'SR Recordings'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'Out Now'

Our Rating:
'Valentine' is the debut single from London band, 'Eutopia' and is taken from their forthcoming debut album, 'Life'.

On listen I must admit I didn't really get the track, it feels a little dated and the keyboards are a little overproduced but these are only cosmetic problems, although they do go a little far towards damaging what is actually a quality attempt at revisiting Classic Rock.

In much the same vain as 'The Darkness', Eutopia are playing on Classic Rock and metal stereotypes but without the operatic cheese associated with Justin Hawkins.

After a few listens the chorus will be well and truly stuck in your head and I would agree with the press release's comparison to Trent Reznor and NIN's brooding undertones during the verses and the bridge.

B-Side (or in this instance 'Bonus Track') I'm Not Alone shows a different sound that is fairly unrelated exhibiting a more classic folk-rock sound without the alternative synth sounds present in the first track. That said it's another sing-along number with a big chorus which clearly shows the band are accomplished with their instruments.

The single also includes a demo recording of 'Valentine' and the liner notes invite the listener to pick their favourite and let the band know which they have picked via their website - I won't divulge my favourite in this review as it will give you all a reason to visit their page and have a listen for yourselves.

Good work and a solid release - I will look out for the album.
