Our Rating:
Anonymous tip are are a punk, speed garage 4 piece from Twickenham. By speed garage, I mean like early MetalLica and not Ceraiiig Daaavid. There is a strong, American, new wave punk influence, ala Fat Mike or Pennywise that runs through the songs. I think I heard a bit of mid nineties Nu metal in there too. Like early Soulfly or to a lesser extent (gritting of teeth) PaPa RoAcH!

Drumming is tight, as you would expect and the vocals are halfway between Phil Anselmo (Pantera) and Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit). They have some nice hooks but I can’t help but think that they are a pastice of all the bands that were big in the early to mid nineties and, the punk and metal genres have moved on so much from those days. I suppose you could argue that they are traditionalists of a genre that only just died.

Don’t get me wrong, they’re a good band. I bet if you saw them at a blinding gig and there’s loads of guys and gals jumping up and down swilling beer and generally being rock and roll then you’d have a blast (if you liked that sort of thing). However, the reality of these gigs for many people who attend them is. Armpit/toilet style venues that stink of piss with maybe ten people (9 overweight 15 year olds and a man in a flat cap) stood around drinking jack daniels and Tetley’s bitter.

So if you want to keep the New wave metal scene alive in Britain you should go out and buy this album and make Anonymous Tip huge so that they can buy Dodge Vipers and go on MTV cribs… Rock and Roll Yea!

Oh, and they have faux reggae bits in the songs too. Anonymous tip get 5 out of 10 from me as they’re good players and the songs and singing is strong too. It’s just a case of personal taste. I don’t like the style. Metaphorically, If music was a big broth with all the different ingredients swirling around, then this nourishing spoonful would be tepid.

The album was released the 1st of December under Triumphant sound records. Contact and listen for yourself at:
