'We Dance in Slow Motion'

-  Label: 'Small Town Records'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '18th May 2009'

Our Rating:
There’s something about the cover of this single that reminds me of that of Joy Division’s ‘Transmission.’ Sonically, there’s no resemblance, however. ‘We Dance in Slow Motion,’ this Brighton based five-piece does bring to mind a number of other bands, but none I can immediately place. It doesn’t really matter: this is an energetic burst of guitar-driven melodic angst that melds contemporary rock to a post-punk / new wave sensibility. Some ever so slightly clumsy drumming aside (the epic fill between the first chorus and the second verse is as overlong and incongruous as it is unnecessary, but then even Stephen Morris was guilty of such rookie errors on those early Warsaw demos), it makes for good listening, there’s plenty of oomph and bags of attitude packed into this two and a half minutes.

As a taster for the debut album ‘There Were Ghosts’ it definitely does the trick, and the current tour could well be worth a look too, if the energy of the studio recordings translates to the live set.
