Our Rating:
For fuck's sake. How much longer must we abide this twaddle? I mean, does anyone really care any more whether this talentless idiot breaks America or gets outsold by the White Stripes or whatever the issue is this week. I personally just wish someone would cut the ropes holding him on the cover of that damn "Escapology" album.

So, yeah, I'm feeling vindictive and I DO wanna make something of it? You wanna know why? Well, the reality of it could be because I've been forced to listen to this excuse for a single for starters.

I freely admit that ROBBIE WILLIAMS generally brings me out in spots in a way close to the effect Queen usually had on me. I could never understand the attraction of their overblown pomp, but at least in Sir Fred they did have a frontman blessed with real charisma, which is far more than can be said for Ploddie Williams. Also - at a push - I could understand why his previous single, "Feel" was an across-the-board success, as it was( I grudgingly admit) his best shot at a power ballad since "Angels," even if I did only want to spit at it.

"Come Undone", though, has no redeeming features whatsoever. None. Nada. Zilch. Diddly squat. It's lumpen, whiny, turgid, sub-Oasis flatualence from start to finish, with Robbie moaning on about the vagaries of fame like a two-year old. With the radio edit, even the petulant, sweary bits get lanced, thus editing out whatever crumbs of peurile pleasure you could have revelled in.

Look, Robbie - if you want REAL rock star blues, try Neil Young's "On The Beach" for size. THAT'S real. It's from the heart and it means every syllable and heartbeat. Oh, and while we're on the subject, Neil Young actually IS a rock star. You seem to be labouring under the missapprehension you are too.

So, in short either shut the fuck up or go off and haunt another poor unsuspecting continent for a while. As my old history teacher would have said: "Williams, you're a nerk, lad" - before doling out a damn good thrashing. Not before time, in this sorry case.
