Review: 'Outraze'
'Rebel Blues'

-  Label: 'Flatliner Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '1st November 2009'

Our Rating:
I have to admit that the name was almost enough to put me off playing the track, because, frankly, it's terrible. What, it's like a pun on outrage or something? Only trouble is, it doesn't seem to mean anything. Perhaps I'm missing the point...

Anyway, moving on, the press blurb tells me that 'The Banbury (Oxfordshire) 5- piece are inspired by some of the biggest Rock'n'Roll bands of the last 50 years, yet still create an epic sound that they can call their own.'

You'll get no argument from me on the first point: their influences are pretty clear without the need to name names, because you'll find almost every rock 'n' roll cliche compressed into this one single track. But mostly they sound like Oasis when they first started. And while I never liked Oasis, they were a whole lot more exciting when they had it all to play for, and came out all guns (and egos) blazing with 'Supersonic.'

'Rebel Blues' is 'Supersonic' for the new millennium, and with legions of Oasis fans bereft, it looks like Outraze have timed it perfectly.
