Well, no messing about here. 'Seconds Out' sees Northern Irish trio Strait Laces is off the ropes and throwing driving sonic punches in rapid succession and displaying some remarkably nifty footwork in the opening seconds and there's no let up in what I can only describe as a short, sharp shock of a single.
In fact, there are so many twists and turns in this shouty energetic guitar-driven sliver of racket, that it sounds more like about four singles chopped up and spliced together - a bit like Truman's Water might have sounded if they had possessed a poppier edge.
Flipside 'Romantic Issues' is perhaps a little more straightforward, but still has a crazy structure that's anything but predictable, while making a nod to the Arctic Monkeys in execution.
It's one hell of a debut and no mistake.
