The Unkindness of Ravens are an unlikely clash of dark garage rock with electro dance beats, and this, their first single, is quite good.
The band consists of Nina Wager on vocals and Ben Raine on bass and vocals, and have been making music for eighteen months. They hail from North East London.
The first track, 'ËœAccelerator' starts off with a pulsing electronic beat and a wall of fuzz sound that instantly got me thinking that this wasn't a million miles away from some of Gary Numan's more recent work, however when Nina Wagner starts to sing "I won;t dissipate, I go only one way, accelerate, accelerate, accelerate" she sounded a bit like P.J. Harvey, which is no bad thing.

'Yours Forever But Not To Hold' is altogether slower and more melodic, with a poppy electronic beat that seems destined for the dance floor.
All in all, this is a good debut single that has been carefully constructed and well thought out, and if the E.P. that the band wish to put out in February 2010 is half as good, then it will be well worth getting hold of. This is a new band that potentially could release some great music.
