Review: 'AIMING FOR SUNDAY'
'MAN IN THE MOON'

-  Label: 'Self Released promo EP'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: 'October 2009'

Our Rating:
Aiming For Sunday are five wholesome looking guys based in Budapest. Having garnered praise and attention in Hungary and Russia they are now making a bid for fame and fortune in the international market place.

To this end they produce a conventional brand of commercial pop where love and loss are the familiar themes.

The best of the three tunes on this promotional EP is Hide Away which was originally released as a single in 2008 and on which Jon Spinks sings of"looking through rose-tinted glass" in "a world of sweet illusion".

This mix of optimism and fantasy can also be found on the title track which calls upon the man in the moon for help "from the depths of the sea".

The band refer to their music as a form of Brit Rock; a misleading label since their sunny sound is more reminiscent of America's The Jayhawks than Britain's Oasis and Blur.

Their songs are strong on melody but weak on inspiration. It is a reasonably pleasant way to pass ten minutes but nothing to write home about.
