Khalija is the pseudonym of LA based ambient techno artist Wyatt Keusch.
This six-track disc is billed as a EP yet has a running time of 52 minutes and ,believe me , it is time which passes very very slowly.
The slow, minimalist pieces are the antithesis of driven rock and exist in a kind of musical nether land.
The subdued, almost inexistent, beats make it the kind of record you could put on then forget was playing.
The blurred cover image of a town as seen through a rain soaked window catches the mood pretty well. Nothing is distinct.
Like drifting in and out of sleep on a long train journey, the listening experience is vaguely disorientating although, curiously, not a wholly unpleasant one.
File under mysterious.
