Review: 'PAGAN WANDERER LU'
'Banish Negative Thoughts'

-  Label: 'Brainlove Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '12th July 2010'

Our Rating:
The insanely prolific Pagan Wanderer Lu (six albums, twenty EPs and now seven singles in nine years is impressive by anyone's standards) continues his one-man crusade to bring indietronica to the masses with this magnificently quirky, off-beat slice of pop imperfection. It's the perfect antidote to all the slick radio fodder, with its beautifully bleak chorus line ('How can I banish negative thoughts / when everything's so unbearably awful?') set to a bouncy upbeat and slightly off-kilter keyboards.

Here, we get Phil Oakey vocals (if he was possessed by The Vessel of David Devant and His Spririt Wife) and woozy bleepy digital effects bubble all over a stuttering sequenced drum and it's probably one of the catchiest numbers I've heard in the last couple of months. Hell, even the remix is cool.
