Produced by ex-Fall member-turned-producer DING, November finally heralds the release of the much-anticipated debut single from youthful Manchester dub sensations THE JANICE GRAHAM BAND.
Sheer pandemonium gets the green light from the off, as the JGB's carnival essence is captured superbly by the veteran muso/producer, with slurry echo FX and big reverb combined to add considerable weight to the young foursome's already inherent soundsystem style.
First impressions consist of the eyes-closed vocal anguish and distorted bass overload provided by front-man Joe Jones as well as Josh Hunt's deranged trumpet; these are the dominant forces of the relentlessly skank-fuelled 'No Money Honey'.
Closer atttention to detail reveals that the quality runs right through both tracks. The sparse, almost-subliminal presence of Andy Morton's staccato-funk guitar in adds sheer class to 'No Money...' from the most minimal of standpoints deeper within.

A change of direction makes jazz/ska revivalist essence of mid-tempo barnstormer 'Sugar Me Tea' the trigger for sheer delight. Concerned with (ahem) brewing up in the summer rain, the subject matter is a deliciously arbitrary factor in ther face of a hypnotically simplistic groove that manages to be both effortless and vital.
Already turning heads left, right and centre thanks to their much acclaimed prowess as a live act, this hugely impressive premiere points to a bright future as far as the JGB's development as recording artists is concerned. Ignore at your peril!
