They describe themselves as alternative / progressive / rock, but lead track 'Desire' has a strongly reggae and world music infused flavour, with a laid-back bongo vibe throughout. It comes on like The Specials crossed with UB40, but features a huge widdlesome guitar break in the middle that's pure prog. Weird.
Thereafter, the band's identity seems to evaporate in a fog of bland indie stylings drenched in reverb, flange and phase. There are some half-decent, driving guitars to be found during the second half of 'Solitaire,' but they're surrounded by jazz-tinged math-rock noodles that really don’t inspire. The rather flat production doesn’t help, but the main shortcoming of this release is its blandness. The songs plod and meander, while lacking the crescendos, majesty or spark that could compensate.
