I was fully prepared to hate this.
The press release contains the instructions for playing the EP as follows:
1) Place the CD into the CD player
2) Press play
3) Turn it up LOUD!
4) Change Underpants
They make such a deal about making ballsy, aggressive rock music that they've surely set themselves up for a fall, destined to fail in equalling the hype with their musical endeavours. Staggeringly, they're every bit as good as they evidently believe they are. There's no pissing about. All four of the tracks, from the blasting 'Black and Beige' to the stuttering, angular 'Feel for You' kick the listener right in the chest with breathless, whooping, hollered vocals and a gritty, grainy guitar. The sound is tight and has a rare groove that’s hard to resist.

Of the four tracks, the live recording of 'Vicious' is the weakest, largely on account of the recording sounding a shade thin. It does the band a real disservice. Still, this doesn't detract from the fact that Kid Karate have announced their arrival in no uncertain terms with an EP that hits like a juggernaut with the brake cables cut. Looks like I'll be needing those clean boxers after all.
