Review: 'LIASON. THE'
'Start From Scratch (EP)'

-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '17th January 2010'

Our Rating:
The Liason are five young guys from Guildford in the UK who have come together from other now defunct local bands like A Thousand Years and the prematurely named Overnight Success Story.

The title of this "stomping" debut EP is obviously meant as a bold statement of intent. This is matched by the breathless vocals and old school guitar hooks as they rattle through four melodic pop-punk tunes with plenty of enthusiasm and vitality (although without much originality).

They need the definite article in their name to distinguish them from other bands called simply Liason and they need some stronger songs if they are to rise above the numerous bands operating in the same field .

I would certainly say they need to be a bit more ambitious lyric-wise and extend the scope of their songs beyond the teenage angst of relationships.

For the moment, the positives are that they have a fresh, clean sound which they have been able to capture on disc alongside the energy rush that went into making it.
