Letters impressed me with their last release, the double-A side 'Grand National' / 'Pipe Dreams', and I find myself equally sold on the follow up, 'Flash! Lights'. The Edinburgh quintet haven't tempered their overt Scottishness one iota, and the vocals proudly burr over the immense chorus that layers overdriven guitars and luscious cello. The song bursts into a climactic finale that really hits home, and those who had a hunch that Letters would be ones to watch on the strength of their previous effort can be absolutely certain now.
