Review: 'MOJO RIZIN''
'Brass Pole / Keep On Rizin''

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'April 2011'

Our Rating:
There is something quite dispiriting about these two albums.

It is as if all the riffs and lyrics from five decades of mainstream rock had been fed into a computer to produce a radio-friendly mix of power chords and mellow acoustic tunes.

They are released simultaneously, each replete with cheapo cover art, and begs the question why the 36 tracks weren't released as a double album particularly since there are several instances of alternate takes of the same track on both records.

Words and music is by Chris Mills who taught himself to play guitar under the influence of Led Zeppelin and Van Halen. He is backed on bass and percussion by Tim Ramos and Jim Murphy. The trio are based in Cincinatti , Ohio

The title track of Brass Pole is a lust song dedicated to a pole dancer and fairly representative of the band's unreconstructed macho posturing. Another raunchy number Take Me To The Other Side is the (tall?) tale of a "naughty little girl" offering her services and asking ("are you really as big as they say").

In the 'explicit version' of this song on Brass Pole the girl is described as "fucking hot" while on a 'clean' version on Keep on Rizin' she is merely "smoking hot". The cuss word on the former is sufficient to generate a Parental Advisory Sticker but the real warning should be to avert listeners to the startling lack of originality on both these records .

Other low-lights are a 'Club Mix'(!) of Do You Want To Party and a cheesy Christmas song (Want You Back This Christmas).

It's like Spinal Tap without the punch lines.
