Our Rating:

The Skin I Live In directed by Pedro Almodovar

This film has been hailed as a return to form for both Pedro Almodovar and Antonio Banderas and I won't argue with that at all, as it is great to see them working together again on one of the best films I've seen in quite a while.

Antonio Banderas plays Robert Ledgard a world reknowned plastic Surgeon who lives in a magnificent country house that doubles as his surgery and experimental lab.

He lives in the house with Vera and Marilia, Vera is played by the very sexy Elena Anaya and is kept in one wing of the house and looked after by Marilia played by Marisa Paredes as to how this story goes or what happens I do not want to give anything away as this is a film with several twists and turns that you are far better not knowing about before seeing the film.

Suffice to say I left the cinema thinking I had just seen a modern day re-working of the Frankenstein myth that had been seen through the prism of modern technology and the celebrity reality cultures but being an Almodovar film it also has some nice high camp bizarre fetishes for furries and body suits thrown into the mix to help things along and confuse us as to where the film is going before he twists it all around and left us with our mouths open at exactly how the story plays out.
A great film that I'd urge anyone who likes Almodovar or Banderas to go and see as soon as they can.
