Spectrum Spools continue their program of lovingly-mastered vinyl releases of super-niche and generally rather cool experimental releases by re-releasing Driphouse's eponymous 1991 cassette, initially produced as a run of 100 copies, on lovely, lovely vinyl.
It's space-age in a vintage Krautrock way: engineered yet atmospheric, Driphouse create immense vistas of sound within concise sections, often under five minutes apiece.
'In Peru' is built around a pulsating, shifting, non-percussive rhythm, over which delicate piano chords rise and drift, with occasional bursts of phaser and static, while the sparsely-arranged analogue pulses of 'Slow Sum' (Parts One and Two) are riven with alien sounds that whip and cut across the wounded galaxies to create a sound that places considerable focus on contrasts and dislocation.

Subtly-balanced analogue warmth envelopes the listener while drifting through the infinite expanses of space. A cosmic experience.
